All Europe Africa Asia Oceania CONCACAF CONMEBOL

Each team's xCC here usually comes from one confederation only — figures from different confederations are never added together. A team can have entries in more than one for two different reasons: it changed confederations (Australia, moving from the OFC Nations Cup to the AFC Asian Cup), or it played as an invited guest in another confederation's tournament without ever leaving its own (the CONCACAF Gold Cup and Copa América have each repeatedly invited outside nations — Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and South Korea from the AFC, South Africa from CAF, and Mexico from CONCACAF guesting Copa América itself). A team can accumulate guest entries from more than one other confederation at once — Qatar is an AFC Asian Cup member with real Gold Cup and Copa América guest entries on top, giving it three separately-attributed figures, the only team with more than two. Either way, each confederation's figures stay separately attributed and are never summed — attribution follows whichever confederation's tournament a team actually played in, not the team's own, so a guest nation appears under that tournament's confederation even when that is the only xCC it has. The confederations haven't been contested equally often either: Copa América has been played 48 times, the African Cup of Nations 35 times, the CONCACAF Championship/Gold Cup 28 times, the AFC Asian Cup 18 times, the European Championship 17 times, and the OFC Nations Cup 11 times, so a higher total partly reflects more chances to win, not quality alone.
